The full walkthrough
How a night works
Plan the night. Hold the seats. Keep the scores. Get out of the way.
Each section shows one part of Games Room. Read them in order, or go to the part you need.
Step 1
Join a room.
-
The host makes a code. It has six characters.
-
The host sends one code to one friend.
-
The friend types the code and taps Join.
-
The friend is in. The code does not work again.
Each room is private. You can only join with a code.
A code has six characters. It works one time only. After a friend uses it, the code stops.
Members can make codes too. The host sets how many open codes each member can hold.
New members start with a points balance. The member who sent the code gets a small thank-you in points.
Step 2
The night is set.
-
The host picks a date, a time and the games.
-
The night goes to each member of the room at the same time.
-
People outside the room do not see the night.
The host picks a date, a time and the games. The host can add a short note.
The host taps Create. The night goes to each member of the room at the same time.
Only members of the room can see the night. The host can also hide a night from some members.
Before the night
Three reminders. Then quiet.
Reminders are off until you turn them on for a room.
When they are on, the mascot tells you about each new night. Then you get three reminders: one week before, three to four days before, and the morning of the night.
If you tap Can't make it, the reminders stop for that night.
During play, the app sends nothing. Read more about notifications.
Step 3
Claim a seat.
-
Tap Claim seat.
-
Your name goes on a chair. The room sees who is coming.
-
If the room uses a seat deposit, the app holds it for you.
-
At the night, tap I'm here. The deposit comes back.
If you do not come, the host decides what happens to the deposit. The app does not decide alone.
Plans change. Tap Release my seat and the chair opens for another person.
Step 4
Play and score.
Casino nights. You play with real chips. The app counts them at the end.
-
Take points from your balance.
-
The host gives you real chips for those points.
-
You play. The phones stay face down.
-
At the end, scan your stack. The ledger records what you won or lost.
The scan counts your chips. Then it takes away the points you took out. The difference goes on the ledger.
The photo is not kept. The app keeps only the count.
One-winner games. Monopoly Deal and Pluto Chess have one winner each round.
-
The host taps the winner of the round.
-
That person gets the points. The host sets how much a win pays.
In Cards Against Humanity, the score is the number of black cards you win. Each player can scan their cards at the end.
Step 5
The season.
-
Scores carry from night to night.
-
The host ends the season. The app gives the awards.
-
Each balance goes back to the start.
Scores carry from night to night. The leaderboard shows who wins across the whole season.
When the host ends the season, the app gives these awards.
- VeteranPlayed the most nights.
- WhaleWon the most in one night.
- PhoenixWent up the leaderboard the most.
- Iron MannCame to the most nights in a row.
- Comeback KidWas down, then finished up.

The mascot
Every room has a voice.
The mascot writes the reminders. It also writes a short line on the room page.
The mascot face does not show during play. Hear a mascot write a reminder.
The night compounds.
